Big Wales Thing - I did it!

224 miles and 15 days of running and walking and the Big Wales Thing was all over. I stood on the cliff edge by the lighthouse on Great Orme on the North Wales coast, grinning at the blue sky and sea, and I had completed my journey on foot from one end of Wales to another.

I was tired! The continuous exercise day after day had taken its toll, especially after the final few days, which had included Snowdon and the Glyders in horrible conditions, and a long day with a detour to avoid the Carneddau (fog, rain and 65 mph winds meant I was forced to go further North.) My calves and Achilles tendons hurt and I looked and felt about 95 on my final jog down to the lighthouse. But I'd done it and was jubilant.

I have been wondering how best to record the journey on my blog. A straightforward day to day account doesn't always make the most exciting reading, so while I will provide a summary of each day I am planning to jot down a series of shorter posts on different things that I found and learned along the way - kit, food, walking, running, nature. More posts soon!
